Paolo Profaizer was born in Bolzano (South Tyrol) in 1961. He spent his childhood immersed in nature and among his father’s landscapes, from whom he inherited his passion for painting. Growing up in a traditional family, during adolescence he faced a search for his own identity, going through a whirlwind of experiences that led him to a path of inner renewal.
He became passionate about psychology, ethics and spirituality, which are recurring themes in his work. His first painting cycles, with their intimate, collected quality, were inspired by Carrà’s metaphysical landscape, reinterpreted in alienating urban scenarios and monochromatic tones. An interest in social and environmental themes grew in him over time, always with an eye on his surroundings. His language opened up towards a more vibrant painting, formally anchored in reality but always conscious of interiority and transcendence.
His works have been exhibited in prestigious venues and exhibitions, including the Porphyry Museum in Albiano, the Kunstforum Unterland in Egna, the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne, the Palazzo Stella in Genoa, the Scuderie Aldobrandini in Rome, the University of Erzurum and the Mersin Art Gallery: they also feature in public collections such as that of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the Museo Casa di Dante in Abruzzo. He has received awards including the Open Catalogue Purchase Prize of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (2022) and first prize for “Kunst im Gange” in Laion (2021).
Since 2021 he has combined his artistic activity with hosting workshops, involving the public in an immersive journey towards the discovery of nature through his personal artistic vision.
